Laughter Yoga with Families
Not only am I a Laughter Yoga Leader, I am also a trained Occupational Therapist and mum.
My background has included performing arts, including completing studies at Cumbria Institute for Art and Design (2002-2004).
I have experience of working for mental health and carers charities, and have supported children and teens, including working with Young Carers.
As a trained Occupational Therapist and Laughter Yoga Leader, I have a huge passion for play and playfulness and appreciate Laughter Yoga as a wonderful tool to bring out the playful side when it comes to our relationships with and having fun with our children.
I absolutely adore providing Laughter Yoga workshops to families. I have experience of doing so at Arts and Music Festivals (Eden Festival, Newcastle Community Green Festival, Kendal Calling, Sol Fest, Hidden Hill and Kelburn Garden Party), with charities and online.
As adults we so often forget how to 'laugh for no reason' other than for the joy of laughter itself, the central concept of laughter yoga. Yet, this is a key part of childhood. A child's primary occupation is play and the soundtrack of play is laughter. Think of children playing together and the laughter that bursts forth, not because they are laughing at any particular joke, but because of their intrinsic joyfulness which is further triggered and released with play.
Children love to see their parents become "goofy" and just let go... it is unfortunately something that many children do not get to experience as often as they should. By laughing together, this helps to build closer connected and trusting relationships, where our children are able to open up and we meet them at their level, from a place of joy and wonder.
Sessions include:
A brief introduction to laughter yoga
Warm up exercises (gibberish, playful games, songs, dance)
Laughter yoga exercises
Laughter yoga meditation
Craft
(For private bookings, gift bags can also be included at an additional cost).
